Meet the friendly HouseCalls medical staff

Just like the professionals in a doctor’s office, our licensed health care practitioners may be nurse practitioners, physician assistants or physicians. They’re state licensed and maintain national certification as well.
We perform background checks on these professionals to provide additional peace of mind for our members. Loved ones, caregivers or friends are welcome to be present during the visit — it’s up to you.
What to expect with a HouseCalls visit
Getting ready
Before the visit, you’ll receive a reminder with notes for how to get ready for the visit. Also, the day before the appointment, the health care practitioner may call you to introduce themselves and answer any questions you have about the visit.
Tips to prepare for the visit
- Wear shoes that can be easily removed
- Make a list of any upcoming primary care provider or specialist appointments
- Make sure all medications are in their original bottles and are ready to review
- Make a list of questions or concerns to discuss during the visit
During the HouseCalls visit
You’ll have up to an hour with the health care practitioner for a physical, health screenings and more. A HouseCalls visit can be completed while sitting at the kitchen table or in the living room, and you can use the time to ask whatever health-related questions you may have. The visit is driven by you and your needs, so screenings and conversation topics can vary.
After the appointment
At the end of the visit, you’ll receive a personalized checklist of items to talk about with your primary care provider (PCP). We’ll also send a summary of the visit to both you and your PCP.
The licensed health care practitioner may also provide you with educational materials on health topics discussed during the visit.
Topics such as:
- Chronic conditions and illnesses (Prediabetes and diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart disease and heart failure, osteoporosis and pain management)
- Healthy lifestyle (Physical activity, eating healthy, weight loss and quitting smoking)
- Mental health (Anxiety, depression and mental wellbeing)
- Managing your health (Managing medications, cholesterol, high blood pressure or hypertension, preventing stroke and heart attack)
- Preventive care (Recommended vaccines and screenings, and blood sugar control)
